Having a Workout Buddy: A Review

Today I am happy to have T.J. writing a guest post on my blog. T.J. is a classmate, friend and young entrepreneur. He oversees communications and public relations for his company, AotC (Ahead of the Class). AotC is a successful entertainment and promotions company based in London, Ontario. T.J. wrote a guest post for me explaining the impact a workout buddy has made on his motivation and success when it comes to fitness. I hope you enjoy!

Choosing the right workout plan and then choosing the right friend to follow this workout plan with. My name is T.J. and I know this because I used to represent the beautiful nation of Barbados on the U20 National Rugby Team.

When it comes to it, every sport and more specifically every position requires a different workout plan. For example, as a scrum half I had to have a higher level of stamina, which would allow me to get to each break in a timely fashion – no matter how far across the pitch they were. Seeing as larger amounts of muscle mass make you heavier and run slower, a workout plan that promotes this type of growth was not for me.

After determining the type of workout plan that would promote the types of characteristics necessary to play the position of scrum I needed to find someone to workout with – my very own workout buddy. It made sense that he was a fly-half because he was my first point of delivery in most cases. In order to ensure this could successfully happen we needed to be on the same page, both physically and mentally. Above all, he knew the pain I was going through and could therefore better motivate me. Thus, making him the perfect workout buddy.
